Exhibits, News and Events

For the past year, I’ve been working on a new show with fellow Muskoka artists, Janice Feist, Pat Whittle and Lynda Lynn. Our show, entitled 4Skins, is an exploration of the use of acrylic skins (thin films of dry acrylic paint). Some of our skins have been created from cleaning our palettes; others made for specific pieces of art.

The show includes both 2D and 3D work. The official opening was October 14 at 1 pm at Chapel Gallery, 15 King Street, Bracebridge. 4Skins runs to November 11, 2017.

I would like to acknowledge funding support from the Ontario Arts Council, an agency of the Government of Ontario.

I’m excited to announce my affiliation with Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary. As of January 1, 2017, a portion of the sale of all my artwork will go directly to the wonderful work done by the sanctuary here in Muskoka.

Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary was started in the early 1970s by a caring individual who wanted to help rehabilitate orphaned wildlife. Over 40 years later, the Wildlife Sanctuary has grown in to a leader in wildlife rehabilitation.

Situated in Muskoka, Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary is a 460-acre sanctuary of natural habitat. Their primary mandate is to rehabilitate animals who find their way to them so that they can eventually be returned to their natural habitat. Aspen Valley also provides education to the community about co-existing with wildlife and humane solutions for wildlife-related issues. The size of Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary makes it one of the most unique and important wildlife rehabilitation centres in Ontario.

They have the space and habitat to care for large animals such as moose, deer, bear and wolves as well as aquatic animals such as beavers and otters. Of course, they also take in countless numbers of raccoons, squirrels and other small mammals and birds.

Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary works within a model called the Sanctuary Solution: staff and volunteers rehabilitate wildlife in order that animals are successfully returned to their natural environment. In 2010, Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary achieved an outstanding 87% success rate in the rehabilitation of admitted animals, exceeding previously recorded numbers by more than 20%.
