3790 – Crocus Surprise

Acrylic on Canvas panel

16 x 12 inches

Every spring we find crocus popping up in unexpected places where they were likely ‘planted’ by squirrels that dig up the bulbs and move them. I’d been going through a creative slump when I came upon this collection in an out of the way spot on our property. Inspired by the flowers and enticed by a warm spring day, I gathered together my supplies and sat outdoors to paint.  I later finished it in my studio. It was good that I acted so quickly. Later the same day, our resident groundhog, Gustav the Great, decided the crocus flowers would make a nice  snack.
