Endangered Seas
Acrylic & Acrylic Mediums on Canvas
24 x 48 inches, Unframed
Endangered Seas is both my love letter and my quiet alarm bell for the ocean.
Layer by layer, I’ve created a vibrant coral world using acrylic and mixed media to build texture and depth beneath the waves. A delicate sea fan unfurls like natural lace. Rounded coral clusters gather in quiet abundance. Staghorn corals reach outward in branching determination. Together they create a fragile, breathtaking harmony.
The background shifts from the shadowed seabed to a hopeful blue, as though sunlight is filtering down — a reminder that even here, light persists.
If you look closely, faint words drift through the water. They speak of ocean life, of polluting factors, but also of human hands trying to mend what has been harmed.
I am endlessly moved by the intricate systems that sustain our planet — and deeply concerned for their survival. This piece invites you to marvel at the beauty, feel the ache of its vulnerability, and remember: these seas belong to all of us.
