The water feature had been disconnected for the season, however, the stone fountain surrounded by a collection of various sized rocks, devoid of water and covered in pine needles appealed to me as a subject. Read More3782 -Moose Marsh Acrylic on Canvas 24 x 24 inches SOLD In the fall of 2019, after dropping off paintings at the Algonquin Visitors Centre for the ECOAA, Mystery of the Park exhibit, we stopped on Hwy 60 with a huge crowd of people to take photos of a moose family in the marshy area south of the highway. They seemed undisturbed by the attention and I was able to get a number of great shots of them. It’s one thing to capture a single moose in the wild but to have the thrill of an entire family was a once in a lifetime experience. When asked what she would like in a painting, she told them she wanted Trees and Roots. Inspired by a hike on Whiskey Rapids Trail in Algonquin Park, Ontario, I added the Raven flying down the path in the distance to guide the viewer into the forest.
