When asked what she would like in a painting, she told them she wanted Trees and Roots. Inspired by a hike on Whiskey Rapids Trail in Algonquin Park, Ontario, I added the Raven flying down the path in the distance to guide the viewer into the forest. While creating acrylic skins for an art show, a heart-shaped skin from my paint palette provided the initial inspiration for this painting. I added more heart-shaped pieces to represent the people and things we love, and a fine raffia for the strings that intersect and connect them all.
